'Five Nights at Freddy's 4' news: new teaser image released, creator confirms Halloween release date

Five Nights at Freddy's 4 - Chica Scott Games

Scott Cawthon, creator of the popular horror game franchise "Five Nights at Freddy's," has released a new teaser image for the upcoming "Five Night at Freddy's 4," which is also dubbed by many as "The Final Chapter." The new teaser image showcases the evil animatronic Chica with a demonic variation of the cupcake ornament.

The image reveals that Chica, a recurring villain in the series, has a few new changes, the most noticeable of which is its three rows of razor-sharp teeth. When the image is brightened, the word "nightmare" can be clearly read. Again, as with the previous teasers, the words "Was it me?" are sprawled on the screen.

The first teaser image was just a desk with a hat and this was followed by another image of the desk but with the hat now missing. This was the first indication that a fourth entry is coming. Cawthon then released an image of Freddy but his body appeared to be made from another villain, Springtrap. The developer once again followed this up with an image of Bonnie.

According to a report from Geeksnack, the HTML code for the game's website randomly features the numbers "7" and "8." With these two numbers and the question "was it me?" fans have speculated that "Five Nights at Freddy's 4" will focus primarily on the "bite of '87" event, where one of the animatronics bit a child at the restaurant.

Fans of the series will remember that the "bite of '87" event was never portrayed in the previous games but was only alluded to in recordings and clips. Freddy, Foxy, Bonnie, and Chica were the four original animatronics presented during those events but Cawthon is very likely to add a new animatronic as a surprise character.

"Five Nights at Freddy's 4" is expected to be released on Oct. 31 and will be available for PC and both iOS and Android mobile devices.
