'Finding Carter' season 2 renewed, not cancelled: 12 more episodes expected in 2015

Finding Carter renewed for season two Facebook

MTV's teen drama TV series "Finding Carter" has already been renewed for season two as its first season concluded last Sept. 16, Tuesday. The upcoming season has been said to be comprised of 12 episodes, just like season 1.

"The coming of age drama is currently 2014′s #1 new cable series with 12-34 year olds and with teens. To date, the series is averaging a strong 2.0 P12-34 rating and 2.2 million total viewers (live+3)," MTV stated in its official announcement last Aug. 19.

Although there has been no premiere date yet for "Finding Carter" season two, the latest buzz is that the upcoming season will premiere in summer of 2015, approximately the same time as the first season's July 8 premiere.

According to actress Cynthia Watros, who plays Carter's biological mother Elizabeth, season two is expected to highlight the backstory of "Finding Carter."

"I think it'd be next season where we'd find out the whole backstory about David and Elizabeth and what happened to them in their lives, maybe before the kidnapping or during those years," the 46-year-old actress said.

When it comes to her character's relationship with her daughter who has just returned, Watros commented that Elizabeth may be understanding Carter more and more.

"I think she's understanding Carter a little bit more," the actress said. "And understanding how to get through to Carter. Does she fully understand? No, so I think there'll be conflict still."

The show is about a young girl named Carter who was living quite peacefully with her mother Lori, until it was disclosed that Lori was not actually her real mother but someone who  kidnapped her when she was three. Carter was eventually returned to her biological family, but everyone discovers that things are not quite easy.  The story follows the teenager as she tries to live with her family while she searches for her abductee/ foster mother Lori.

On the other hand, Carter's biological mom Elizabeth has set out to search for Lori to make her pay for abducting her child many years back. Meanwhile, Carter's biological father, in secret, is wrapping up his second book about his child's disappearance.
