"Fallout: New Vegas" could end up getting its own sequel.

Recently, one of the folks who works for Obsidian Entertainment, the developer of "Fallout: New Vegas," was asked if the studio had interest in working on another "Fallout" game.

In response, Eric Fenstermaker, a writer and designer for Obsidian Entertainment, indicated that he is interested in working on another "Fallout" game, GameSpot reported.

Fenstermaker also revealed that most of the folks over at Obsidian Entertainment also have at least a cursory interest in making a sequel to "Fallout: New Vegas."

It's worth noting that Fenstermaker did not exactly say that the studio is working on a new "Fallout" game.

It's also unclear if Bethesda will even sign off on allowing Obsidian Entertainment to work on yet another "Fallout" game, but until the possibility is ruled out, some fans will undoubtedly hope that a new project will be announced soon enough.

"Fallout: New Vegas" was released in 2010, while "Fallout 3" was launched back in 2008. If Obsidian Entertainment can indeed secure permission to work on another "Fallout" game, then it's likely that it will not be ready until sometime around 2017, according to Forbes.

There's also a chance that a follow up to "Fallout: New Vegas" making use of "Fallout 4's" engine may end up taking longer to develop, meaning a 2018 release date could also be in play.

There's also the matter of where a sequel to "Fallout: New Vegas" would actually be set.

Forbes' Paul Tassi put forth some suggestions for a new "Fallout" setting, including New York, the historical city of Philadelphia, and the truly outside the box suggestion of Tokyo.

Still, all fans can do for now is speculate, and until Bethesda gives Obsidian Entertainment the green light, it's not even a sure thing that a sequel to "Fallout: New Vegas" will be made.
