'Fallout 4' PS4 mods release date news: support not yet confirmed; Mods platform still being evaluated

Mods have been a staple for Bethesda Softworks games such as "Fallout 4" and "Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim." Mods have normally been solely for the PC but have since started making their way to consoles. Unfortunately, while "Fallout 4" mod support has already launched for Xbox One, no official release date has yet been announced for PS4.

According to a report from Gamespot, even Bethesda and its executives cannot give a proper release date at the time being. As stated in the report, Bethesda's marketing executive Pete Hines recently responded via Twitter to questions about the PS4's mod support and when it could launch.

"Until evaluation is done there is no way to give a date. We don't have a date when eval will be done," Hines replied, revealing that the mod support for PS4 is still nowhere near release. There may still be multiple bugs, compatibility issues and more that Bethesda is still working to fix.

Fans also speculate that the delay might be due to the upcoming release of the Playstation Neo, an upgraded and more powerful version of the PS4, as well as the recently leaked PS4 Slim. It is likely the company is still working to make sure the mods will run no matter which kind of PS4 the player may own.

The report also points out that Hines made a similar comment back in Aug. 1 and explained Sony is working with Bethesda to ensure the mod support for PS4 releases soon and that it will release without issue.

Official mod support for the PC version of the game launched back in April and then for the Xbox One in May, following a very short beta testing period. PS4 mod support was intended to launch in June but has since been delayed, reportedly due to massive problems arising during early tests.
