"Fallout 4" is having a blowout for anyone interested, as the post-apocalyptic roleplaying game (RPG) will be going free-to-play come the weekend.

Developer and publisher Bethesda has announced that "Fallout 4" will be available for download and play by anyone in all platforms for the duration of the weekend. Should players decide that they want to continue playing the game afterwards, it will then be discounted by as much as 33 percent off.

The free period runs from Thursday, Feb. 1, up until Sunday, Feb. 4, alongside the large discount for the game. It is worth noting that this is only for the core game, and as such, players will only be able to test the game for free without any of the downloadable contents (DLC). Some of these include extra missions, more areas in the game world, new characters, as well as new weapons and armor.

Luckily, there will also be a generous discount sale for all other components and versions of the game, where a 40 percent discount applies to "Fallout 4 G.O.T.Y. (Game of the Year Edition)," "Fallout 4: Automatron," "Fallout 4: Contraptions Workshop," "Fallout 4: Far Harbor," "Fallout 4: Nuka-World," "Fallout 4: Vault-Tec Workshop," and "Fallout 4: Wasteland Workshop."

For those who may have already bought the base game, "Fallout 4's" season pass is also discounted greatly at 50 percent off. This pass will include all the DLCs and additional content available for the game. All the said discounts will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Microsoft Windows.

For those unfamiliar, "Fallout 4" is the latest game in the award-winning "Fallout" franchise originally released back in 1997. The game takes place centuries after a fictional nuclear war between the US and China where the only lucky survivors are the ones who hid in Vaults or underground and self-sustaining bomb shelters, while those on the surface have either been irradiated or mutated and lost all vestiges of humanity.

As usual with all most "Fallout" games, the players take on the role of a Vault-dweller and will have to explore and survive the wasteland while trying to be a beacon of hope or destruction for what is left of its population.
