'Dragon Ball Super' episode 30: Piccolo trains Gohan; Beerus introduces Monaka

Dragon Ball Super Toei Animation

The "Dragon Ball Super" series has now passed the events in the two feature films and is now at the beginning of the inter-universe story arc. Episode 30, as its title and promo trailer suggest, will focus on Piccolo and Gohan training as they are the newest members of the team already consisting of Goku, Vegeta and Majin Buu.

As showcased in the trailer, there will be a little back and forth regarding Piccolo's ability to train Gohan as it is now suggested that the student may be far more powerful than the master. However, Piccolo may still have power to unlock in order for him to become just as strong as the Super Saiyans he is paired with.

There is even a sequence in the trailer where Piccolo is able to keep up with Vegeta. It is not shown how long Piccolo will last but it is possible that he will outsmart Vegeta, a far more powerful opponent in terms of power levels. This may also be the episode where Gohan unleashes his true potential, which Goku believes makes Gohan the most powerful Saiyan in the group.

However, as stated in a report from Yibada, the team is still incomplete and in episode 30, Beerus will be introducing their final team member: Monaka. Monaka, as seen in the manga series, does not look like a fighter but it is revealed that he is in fact the most powerful opponent that Beerus ever faced, even more powerful than Goku.

Beerus and Whis also seem preoccupied eating a lot of ramen noodles. This then cuts to a scene showcasing Trunks and Goten flying off to an undetermined destination, hinting that they may unintentionally join the tournament or at least come along for the ride. This continues the series' trend of adding more to their story whereas the films excluded them completely.

"Dragon Ball Super" episode 30 airs this Feb. 7.
