Game company Bandai Namco announced during the recently held Anime Expo 2015 that "Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth" would be getting a North American and European release, as cited by Playstation Lifestyle. The report states that the game will be made available for the English market for both the PS4 and PS Vita and will be launched by 2016.

The game is also scheduled for release in Latin America and Brazil.

U.S. gamers will be able to avail of a digital download and a physical copy of the game for the PS4 and a digital-only version for the PS Vita. European gamers will only be able to purchase a digital copy of the game for both platforms. At the time of writing, the game's PS4 copy is set to a $59.99 retail price.

According to the official synopsis, "Cyber Sleuth" takes place in the near future when the real world and the digital world have started to blend together and logging into cyber-space is now an everyday thing. The main character, while chatting online, encounters a mysterious hacker and must now "scan, raise, and train" Digimon to battle a group of hackers.

As seen in the older "Digimon" games and in the animated series, Digimon can "Digivolve" in order to transform into more powerful creatures. The transformations are often temporary and after battle, they will revert back to their original form.

The game's main character must now serve as a cyber detective who will encounter and will be able to train over 200 Digimon from the animated television series. Gamers will be able to explore both the real world and the digital world, and battles utilize a turn-based system, a trope of classic Japanese RPG titles.

The "Digimon" brand has often been seen as a rival of "Pokemon" and "Monster Rancher," franchises which also focus on raising fictional beasts to do battle with, but "Digimon" started out as a form of a Tamagotchi device before it spawned into a trading card game, anime series, and video game brand.
