Bungie, the creator of online-exclusive multiplayer game "Destiny 2," is halting the release of several key improvements and mods that were initially announced to drop in February and is pushing them back to March and May.

Key features involved in the pushback include Nightfall unique weapons and rewards, in-app viewing vendors, and the revamp of the equipment mod system -- these features were all supposed to come with the release of update 1.1.3 on Feb. 27 next week until Bungie rescheduled the release.

Aside from this, Exotic gear changes scheduled for a release in the March update have also been delayed, and are said to see a possible release on May.

According to Christopher Barrett, art director of the "Destiny" franchise, the following delays were made in order to ensure that the aforementioned updates and upgrades will be of the "highest quality" for players of the online shooter.

"With today's update we've moved a few items out to later releases - this is because we are trying to ensure each feature we add hits a sufficiently high quality bar," Barrett explained.

Barrett also discussed why the team chose to push back the Nightfall unique weapons and rewards, sharing in a statement that they have given artists extra time in order to make the updates "super cool."

"So while we really wanted to get nightfall strike unique weapons into your hands next week to coincide with nightfall scoring, it's more important that each of those rewards live up to the difficulty it will take to earn them. They have to be super cool, so we're giving the artists extra time to make sure they are... super cool," he explained.

Another anticipated enhancement that failed to show up on its intended outing is the mod system improvements that were supposed to drop months before. Barrett indicated that the mod system improvements are still going to be released, but they will not be seeing a launch until after update 1.2.0 drops in May.

In light of the delay issues, Barrett assured fans that they will be revealing more information in the coming weeks. And that they are going to be as transparent as they could be regarding the updates.

"There's lots more we're eager to talk about in the coming weeks," Barrett concluded. "We promise to be as transparent as possible and keep you updated as we go. We hope you're along for the ride," the art director emphasized.
