On Dec. 19, first-person Sci-Fi shooting game "Destiny 2" will be starting its Christmas-themed event. Known as "The Dawning," the holiday event will include new gear and items for players, new activities, and more limited-time prizes for those who participate in the festivities.

Aside from that, the game will also be getting a Christmas make-over. According to Polygon, a handful of the usual player hangouts will be redecorated to fit the Christmas-themed events coming to the game.

There will also be mini-games available to anyone who logs in during the event. Players can participate in snowball fights in the farm and tower areas — play hockey and even hit enemies with snowballs for some extra damage this holiday season.

Bungie, the game's developer, released an official announcement regarding the event.

According to the announcement, rare items will be popping up in the shop. Players can purchase these items using their Bright Dust. While it is possible to miss the items if they show up on a certain day, the announcement guarantees that at some point in time – each of the Dawning-themed items and each of the legendary-themed armor pieces will show up in the shop. Meaning, players who check back often will have the chance to purchase and collect all of the holidays rares.

There is also a gift-giving event. Players will be able to craft gifts for vendors and agents across the "Destiny 2" world. Giving a present will result in receiving a present in return. Players will be allowed to participate in the gift-giving event every day until "The Dawning" comes to an end.

Mayhem mode, the original Player vs. Player mode from 2015, will also be returning. Mayhem mode increases the recharge rates of a variety of weapons making it a faster-paced combat mode.

Lastly, players will be able to get their hands on new Holiday-themed skins and a brand new sword.
