Debra Messing Golden Globes news: Brings up wage gap during interview

American actress Debra Messing spoke up recently against E! during the Golden Globes last Sunday, for the allegations made against them regarding the allegedly lower salary they give their female employees compared to men. Messing alluded to the case of former E! host, Catt Sadler, who allegedly left the network after finding out that her co-host, Jason Kennedy, made much more money than she did.

During the Golden Globes event last Sunday, it did not take a lot of time for Messing to open up about the issue of the wage gap in the industry of entertainment. Messing was approached to be interviewed by Giuliana Rancic, who is a reporter for E! News, while the Jewish American actress walked down the Red Carpet.

When the former "Will & Grace" star was asked about by Rancic as to why she was wearing a black dress to such a joyous occasion, Messing stated that it was a sign of respect toward the numerous women who have come forward to express their grievances toward the "harassment and assault and discrimination" that they have been going through over the years.

These issues have been a very hot topic in Hollywood, and Messing has clearly shown where she stands in all of this.

In addition to that, Messing also brought up the case of Catt Sadler, who left E! last December. Messing expressed that she was utterly surprised when she heard the news about the difference in the wages between Sadler and her male co-host, and stated that it is a problem that can be resolved very easily -- alluding to the ability of E! to simply agree to give Sadler the same amount as that of Kennedy.

Messing also stated during the interview that she is one of the people who miss Sadler's presence on television, and expressed the need to respect the value of women in the same way that men are recognized.
