11 June - A report from Hoops Rumors states that the Chicago Bulls might be letting go of their star point guard Derrick Rose and trading him out to the Philadelphia 76ers in order to get Narlens Noel. However, despite the benefits this may give to both teams, it is stated in a report from Inquisitr that this may not push through.
According to the report, the Chicago Bulls are currently exceeding their salary cap and one of the main benefits of letting go of several players to get Narlens Noel is that it would reduce the amount they spend for player salaries. However, this also means letting go of Rose, Taj Gibson and Mike Dunleavy Jr.
The report also states that the 76ers would give Rose the ample room needed to re-establish himself as a star in the NBA, following three seasons of going in and out of the hardfloor due to knee rehab following a serious ACL tear. Trading Rose might not get the Bulls Jahlil Okafor but it may give them Narlens Noel.
Not only would the Bulls be letting go of three strong players but they would also be on the losing end of the deal as it is further explained that the trade does not grant the Bulls a draft pick. It is noted that the draft pick is crucial in landing some of the best rookie players or getting a rookie that might be traded off for a seasoned veteran.
It is unclear if the Bulls or the 76ers are even going to push forward with the deal or if Derrick Rose himself is adamant on staying or leaving the Bulls. The veteran player has made a name for himself with the Bulls, continuing a legacy that has diminished a bit since the late 1990s when Michael Jordan departed to the Washington Wizards.
