A group of hackers attacked the servers of "Call of Duty: Ghosts" and "Destiny," and interrupted the fun twice in September.
The hackers who call themselves Lizard Squad disrupted some of the functionalities of the two Activision games, and riled the gamers on their online play over the weekend. The hackers also claimed to have damaged the servers of certain EA games. However, the games that were affected were unspecified.
It seems that the North American servers of "Destiny" and "Call of Duty: Ghosts" were the most affected. The damage has largely affected the gamers, and developer Bungie issued a notice to the fans.
"We're aware of connection issues affecting portions of the Destiny player base and we're working to correct the problem. Please stay tuned," the developer tweeted.
The hacker group used distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack to crash the servers. This means that hackers flooded the system with a lot of requests that made the systems crash.
Activision denied to comment on the activities of the hackers. The Lizard Squad also held off information about the reasons for the attack. However, the group posted in Twitter, "We're predicting a lot of mad gamers this weekend."
Meanwhile, "Destiny" players discovered a cave thriving with loot perfect for farming items needed in the game. The treasure cave is located in the Old Russia hub world near the Cosmodrome. The cave is crowded by low-level enemies who tend to drop valuable, and sometimes rare, items in the game when killed.
To observe fairness to other "Destiny" players, a Reddit group took action and published a reminder to all gamers when looting. Avid gamers must avoid greediness, a deadly sin, and observe good etiquette when farming. The guide reads:
"Please don't run up every time you see something shiny drop. I get it, you need to know whether you've just dropped a legendary engram and not just some heavy ammo. But even if you have, it's not like you can equip it yet. And it makes it so much more rewarding picking up a ton of loot and not just one thing."
