'Call of Duty Black Ops 3' news: 'Awakening' DLC Xbox 360 version arrives May 5

Call of Duty Black Ops III - Awakening Activision

The last generation of consoles have not yet been completely forgotten by video game developers. Xbox Live Director Larry Hryb announced via Twitter that the "Awakening" DLC pack for "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" will finally launch for the Xbox 360 and will give the game a large boost in terms of content.

Hryb also confirmed that once the game is available for Xbox 360 players he will share a link for gamers to instantly access the download page.

As stated in a report from IGN, "Awakening" was the first DLC for the game and has been available for the PlayStation 4 since Feb. 2. Xbox One and PC players were able to acquire the DLC and its content starting March 3. Xbox 360 players won't be completely left behind as they will be able to get the DLC pack starting this May 5.

The "Awakening" DLC pack will give Xbox 360 players four new maps as well as a new episode for the game's zombie story mode. It is the first of four upcoming DLC packs for the game. The second DLC, "Eclipse," released for the PlayStation 4 this past April 19 while Xbox One and PC players will get a hold of it before the end of May.

The reason for the delay is because of a 30-day exclusive deal with the PlayStation 4, ensuring that all new content launches for the Playstation 4 without competition for a month before becoming available for other platforms. Given that Xbox One releases are delayed, it is expected that the Xbox 360 release dates will be pushed even more so.

However, it is undetermined at this point if the other DLC packs for "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" will launch on the Xbox 360. Many video game developers have opted of releasing new content for games on the PS4 and Xbox One but not on the Xbox 360 and PS3 given that they would have to remove so much content for the DLC to work on the last generation's hardware.
