'Bones' season 11 spoilers, plot news: New poster features animated version of Booth and Brennan

Although Booth (David Boreanaz) will go missing in the premiere episode of "Bones" season 11, he has been featured prominently alongside Brennan (Emily Deschanel) in the new animated poster promoting the upcoming season. While the poster boasts bright yellow colors, the message it sends off is dark and brooding.

The poster sports a yellow background color, an animated version of Booth and Brennan on either side, a skull on the lower left corner, and the tag line "Murder Draws Them Together" in the center.

As pointed out in a report from TVLine, the lighthearted design serves as a contrast to the heavy drama that will take place in the season's premiere episode. Episode 1 will see Booth going missing — it isn't revealed if he has been kidnapped, although it is implied — with Brennan and the Jeffersonian searching for him.

Booth's disappearance will continue on to the second episode but it will have lasting effects throughout season 11. Showrunner Michael Peterson explained that the "impact of what happens will carry us through." It is likely that this event will force Booth and Brennan to go back to the Jeffersonian after deciding to leave during the season 10 finale.

Also revealed in a report from TVLine is that Booth's disappearance was written into the show due to the actor's health scare that occurred last month. According to the report, Boreanaz suffered from a bad reaction to medical antibiotics and had to step out of filming for a while. They later filmed scenes that were added to explain his absence.

"Nothing matters to me more than 'Bones,' so I was thrilled when the producers came up with a way for me to take a few extra weeks to recover from a personal health issue without delaying production," Boreanaz said.

He then confirmed that the 11th season would be able to keep its scheduled premiere date with him still in the episode.

"Bones" season 11 premieres this Oct. 1.
