Tetsuro Araki is determined not to make mistakes in making "Attack on Titan" season 2. Funimation

"Attack on Titan" season 2 is already in development. Director Tetsuro Araki is already stitching plotlines for the highly anticipated return of the hit anime series.

In an interview with Bessatsu Shonen for its April issue (translation by Fuku-Shuu Tumblr), Araki revealed that he had "many discussions" with Hajime Isayama, creator of the "Attack on Titan" manga, in developing the second season.

Araki is invested in translating Isayama's visions as they should be in "Attack on Titan" season 2. The two put their heads together for the best approach to tell Reiner's story in the anime.

[Spoiler Alert! Major plot points in "Attack of Titan" season 2 are to be discussed below]

Reiner is one of the many Titan Shifters in the manga. He transforms as the Armored Titan, one of the most powerful and fearsome of the giant flesh eaters.

"That moment was a challenge during the anime production, you know," Araki said as regards to Reiner revealing in the manga who he is to the others through a normal conversation.

"Even though everything looked peaceful, Reiner's confession created ripples on the undisturbed surface. I was so determined to create a climactic scene that I felt as if I had to become a performer myself [and be versatile], so I had to put all my special skills to work," the "Attack on Titan" season 2 director said with a laugh.

Araki admits that at the time of the interview, he is yet to find the perfect manner to lay out Reiner's secret in "Attack on Titan" season 2. What they are focused now is the "risk [of] leaving unintentional hints" for the audience about his identity.

"But it shouldn't be revealed that way. The correct method should be that the audience only realizes on second viewing that, 'This guy was lying here,'" Araki said.

Araki and Isayama also discussed whether or not they will have Sasha speak in dialect come "Attack on Titan" season 2, wherein she heads to her hometown as opposed to standard language, which she has been using in the first season.
