"Arrow" season 4 left off with an action-filled midseason finale that saw Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) and Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) getting gunned down by Damien Darhk's (Neal McDonough) men. Felicity was shot and left unconscious but newly released set images reveal Felicity's fate and what she may do in the future.

Posted by Canadagraphs, the set photos showcase Felicity sitting in a wheelchair.

According to IBTimes, the Australian trailer for season 4B also show Felicity's mother telling Oliver that Felicity might never be able to walk again as her injuries have permanently crippled her.

However, executive producer Marc Guggenheim stated via Twitter that season 4B will feature a hallucination involving Felicity although he did not detail if this means Felicity is indeed dying and merely hallucinating of a potential future if she would survive surgery or if these are images from Oliver's perspective.

According to a report from iDigital Times, Felicity Smoak in a wheelchair does bring to mind one character from the DC comic books. In the comics, Barbara Gordon, daughter of Gotham City's commissioner Gordon, used to be Batgirl until the Joker shot her and crippled her. Since then she became known as the Oracle, leader of the Birds of Prey.

It is speculated that Felicity Smoak may take on the mantle of Oracle for "Arrow," which means she may later form the team known as the Birds of Prey, a group of female vigilantes. Huntress aka Helena Bertinelli (Jessica Gouw) has been a long-time member of the Birds of Prey and has been showcased in the series since season 1.

However, there are still fan speculations that Felicity might not survive for very long. It is speculated that Felicity's condition is only temporary before she does end up dying. Other fans, however, speculate that she will only be crippled for several episodes before she finds treatment and is able to regain her ability to walk.

"Arrow" season 4B premieres this Jan. 20.
