'Arrow' season 4 plot rumors: Constantine confirmed to appear

Matt Ryan as John Constantine NBC

Matt Ryan's take on John Constantine was beloved by many, yet the series "Constantine" still failed to garner a second season due to low viewer ratings. However, fans will be able to see the demon hunter battling demons and the supernatural once more as he is set to appear in "Arrow" season 4.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Constantine will be coming in on the fifth episode of "Arrow" season 4 which is titled "Haunted." Season 4 is also going to dabble into magic and mysticism which perfectly sets the tone for his arrival.

Constantine is described to arrive in Star City to help Oliver Queen when "arrows aren't enough." Details haven't been given, however, although it is widely assumed that it may be linked to the main villain of season 4, Damien Dahrk.

"We are thrilled to have Matt Ryan reprise the role of John Constantine on an upcoming episode of 'Arrow.' Matt is an incredibly talented actor and his portrayal of this beloved character was always something we admired," said "Arrow" executive producer Marc Guggenheim in a statement.

Ryan later confirmed the news via a video post on Twitter with his caption, "The trench coat is being dusted off."

This all follows a previous Twitter post from "Arrow" star Stephen Amell who stated that if "Constantine" would be renewed for a second season, he would be open to guest star. The show wasn't renewed, however, but it now appears that things have worked out for Ryan to be the one appearing on Amell's show.

While "Constantine" was on NBC and "Arrow" is on The CW network, both are produced by Warner Bros. which means they are still owned by the same company but were shown on different networks. This is often done in order to cater to a wider audience and nab better timeslots since they won't be competing on the same network.

"Arrow" season 4 premieres this Oct. 7.
