Android M release date rumors: Mobile OS to launch with new Nexus 5 2015 in Q3?

Android M Google

Android M, the latest version of Google's mobile operating system, is expected to be released soon. Now, a new report from GeekSnack gives a more tangible release window. According to the report, the new OS will be released simultaneously with Google's new Nexus, speculated to be the Nexus 5 2015.

GeekSnack probed an insider who confirmed that Android M and a new Nexus will be launched together. Their source did not confirm, however, if the new device is the Nexus 5 2015 or perhaps a different phone being developed by Google and its collaborators. The report says that there is a very high chance that Android M will be released alongside the new device given that the Nexus is Google's flagship mobile product.

Further, a report from BGR says that the joint launch might be an indication that the next Android OS will be rolled out earlier than its speculated Q4 2015 schedule.

According to the report, the Nexus 5 2015 is being prepared for an October release but says that the product might hit the market toward the end of Q3 2015, which would be around September. Meanwhile, Google is going to release Android M's Preview 3 — an early beta build for people to test out — within this month.

If the Nexus 5 2015 is going to be released earlier than speculated, and no further beta testing is required for Android M, then it is possible that these two products would become available simultaneously by September.

Also, there are rumors of both LG and Huawei Technologies working on the next Nexus device. According to iDigital Times, LG is currently making a device codenamed "Bullethead." Huawei, on the other hand, is reported to be designing a phablet codenamed "Angler." Either device, or even both, could carry the new Android M OS.

According to ExpertReviews, it is likely that Android M will launch early for developers, which coincides with the Q3 release date stated above, but also says that the commercial release might not happen until November.

These, of course, are mere speculations, and Google has yet to provide an official announcement regarding Android M and its next smartphone.
