Android 5.1 Lollipop to release to Moto G, Moto X and Moto E devices

 Official Android Blog

For many Android fans, one of the most aggravating things about the platform is the slow update to the current version. The rollout for the update, the most recent of which is the upgrade from the 5.0 to the 5.1 version of Android Lollipop, is taking months before reaching most users.

This is especially true for manufacturers with many products under their Android lineup, such as Motorola. Most recent Motorola products are still on Android KitKat, and have only received micro updates.

The good news for Motorola device users is that they won't have to wait long for the newest 5.1 update. According to reports, most Motorola flagships such as the two versions of the Motorola G, the Moto X first- and second-gen, and the second-gen Moto E will finally get their needed 5.1 Lollipop updates.

The upcoming rollout to the latest Android version has already been confirmed by the manufacturer. According to company representative David Schuster, most Motorola products would make the jump straight to Android Lollipop 5.1. For those still on the KitKat version, this means foregoing the Android 5.0 version entirely.

Schuster wrote on his Google+ page, "As some of you might know, we've been testing Lollipop 5.0.2 upgrades on Moto X (1st Gen), Moto E (1st Gen) and Moto G with 4G LTE (1st Gen) in several regions. In parallel we have started testing Lollipop 5.1 which was recently released by Google. Given the improvements in Lollipop 5.1, we have decided to move all efforts to upgrade these devices directly from KitKat to Lollipop 5.1."

However late it is — with Google already announcing the impending arrival of the M version, which is the next upgrade to its Android platform — the news about Motorola jumping to 5.1 Lollipop is welcome news to users, as Lollipop 5.1 addresses the many issues and glitches that are still present in the 5.0 version.
