Moto Droid Turbo, Moto X and LG G3 are three Android feats this year. Each is distinctive in design and build, and even more unique in the buyer's perspective. To make it easier to shell out hard-earned money on any of these Androids, allow a specs showdown to settle the dilemma.
The first to have been released in the bunch is the LG G3, which launched in June. The Moto X was made available three months later. The most recent handset is the Moto Droid Turbo, which just began rollout last month. If the first aspect to tackle and consider is durability, the LG G3 is already put in a wobbly position as it is the only handset among the three lacking waterproof and dust resistance.
As far as looks is concerned, the devices are very much comparable. The Droid Turbo comes with a metalized exterior armored with Kevlar, which makes it high-quality. The Moto X offers a wide variety of "colorful hues" such as genuine leather and wood grains, but Motorola was made at par with its rivals through its metal frame. Lastly, the LG G3 went for a faux leather outer shell.
With a 10-mm thin body, the Moto X was made the thickest among the group. It is followed by the LG G3 at 8.9 mm and the thinnest body belongs to the Droid Turbo that measures 8.3 mm.
The LG G3 boasts its 5.5-inch Quad HD display that delivers a 2560 x 1440 resolution on top of impressively high pixel density of 538 ppi. The Motorola devices have the same screen size — 5.2 inches. The Moto X has AMOLED while the Droid Turbo has Super AMOLED. This means that the former's display capability does not measure up to the latter. Nevertheless, AMOLED and Super AMOLED both exude deep blacks and high contrast. In addition, the Moto X has 1080 x 1920 resolution and 424 ppi pixel density. The Droid Turbo is sure to deliver the sharpest details at a 1440 x 2560 screen resolution and a 565 ppi pixel density.
The Droid Turbo continues to bring higher quality specs to the table. The handset is powered by the new and better 2.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 partnered with 3 GB of RAM. The LG G3 and the Moto X house the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801, which clocks in at 2.5 GHz as well. However, LG G3 has 2 GB and 3 GB of RAM while Moto X only has 2 GB.
The camera department is a win for the Droid Turbo yet again. While LG G3 and Moto X both have 13-megapixel rear-facing shooters, Droid Turbo has a hefty 21-megapixel main snapper. However, the Motorola handsets share the same 2-megapixel secondary camera, while the LG G3 has it a teeny tiny notch better at 2.1.
Moto X's battery life puts it after its two contenders. Usage time for it is merely up to 24 hours, far shorter than Droid Turbo's advertised 2-day life and LG G3's 25 hours. GSM Arena's battery test for Moto X, on the other hand, showed only 14 hours. Nevertheless, the Motorola devices were integrated with the fast charging technology, which puts in 60 percent of battery life in less than an hour.
The LG G3 and Moto X have 16 and 32 GB models. The former offers five color options: Black, White, Gold, Violet and even Burgundy. The Moto X only has a Black and White variant. The Moto Droid Turbo is slightly more spacious with 32 GB and 64 GB. Color variants include Black Ballistic Nylon, Metallic Black and Metallic Red.
The newest device is expectedly the priciest at $600. The Moto X is at $480 and the LG G3 is at $400.
