The first official photos of the "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 3 two-part finale have been released and as stated in a report from Comic Book, the absence of both Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet) and Coulson (Clark Gregg) is conspicuous, leading to the speculation that at least one of them may be killed off.
As stated in a report from The Movie Network, ABC has teased that one character will die in the season 3 finale as part of the show's "The Fallen Angel" storyline. The report states that May (Ming-Na Wen) is the most likely candidate but the absence of both Daisy and Coulson now make them likely options as well.
May is speculated to sacrifice her life in order to rescue her allies and her death may lead to the rest of the team taking down their enemies as swiftly as possible. However, the synopsis for the last two episodes also reveal that their actions will lead to dire consequences and these complications may be the main struggle in season 4.
The official promo photos also showcase both Lincoln (Luke Mitchell) and Yo-Yo (Natalie Cordova-Buckley) wearing the uniform they adorned when on dangerous, murderous missions. This indicates that the finale episodes will see the Inhumans take on a violent path to stop Hive (Brett Dalton) and rescue their S.H.I.E.L.D. allies.
It is also noted that Dr. Radcliffe (John Hannah) is shown standing alongside the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, indicating that he may have betrayed Hive and is already trying to work with S.H.I.E.L.D. after conducting all the failed experiments he made with the other side. However, it is also possible that S.H.I.E.L.D. is merely holding him against his will.
According to the official synopsis, Hive's true master plan will come to light in the two-part finale and this causes the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents to immediately spring into action. Unfortunately, the promo images give no clue regarding what Hive has in mind and what he may do to achieve these plans.
"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 3 episodes 22 and 23 will air back to back this May 17.
