The San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys will battle it out in one of the biggest games on Sunday as the new NFL season gets underway for 26 teams.

The 49ers and Cowboys will face off at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas at 4.25 p.m. ET, and the game will be shown live on the Fox network or online through live stream – free for Direct TV Sunday Ticket subscribers - via the link provided below.

These are two major teams in the NFL, however, at present this is not a close match up; the 49ers are a serious powerhouse with a serious chance of Super Bowl glory this season, where as the Cowboys are very 50-50 even to make the Playoffs.

Last season the Cowboys struggled through a troubled season 8-8, which on paper was not a complete disaster, but given how weak the NFC East was last season – it was arguably the worst division in the league last year – an 8-8 record is nothing to boast about.

Dallas was last or nearly last in almost every defensive category, and their 6,645 yards given up was the worst in the NFL.

Tony Romo suffered more than most, and with next to no protection at times he was sacked 35 times.

Meanwhile, the 49ers will have huge ambitions for the season. They will feel they have been able to improve the 10 percent or so they were missing last year, and anything less than a Super Bowl appearance this season will be a big let down.

However, they have suffered a few hiccups ahead of the regular season starting, with some off the field issues, as well as some injuries and suspensions. They will definitely want to find more consistency now that the season has arrived, and a strong win here today will set them up for a positive run immediately.

The 49ers vs Cowboys will start at 4.25 p.m. ET and can be watched on Fox, or online by clicking here.
