MacBook Air Retina release date in time for Christmas 2014?

This year's MacBook Air with Retina display is slated for release in December just in time for the holiday season.

2014 MacBook Air Retina is expected to pack a sleeker and more sophisticated design as well as a higher pixel resolution compared to its predecessor.

It seemed that the release of MacBook Air Retina release date will come soon as Apple recently gave away discounts on the current version of the lightweight laptop. The tech giant generously slashed $100 from the device's original price.

This immediately sparked rumors that a new device is on its way soon. It was initially speculated that the next generation of Apple's laptop will be launched on the third quarter. However, latest whispers claimed that the device will be launched in December and some publications reported that the production of the Apple's device will commence this month to hit the shelves just in time for the Christmas shopping season.

According to hit-and-miss publication, DigiTimes, Qanta Computer will be in charge of the production of the 12-inch MacBook Air. The report also said that the new device will retain the design of the current MacBook Air and slight changes will be applied on the upcoming model in order to accommodate the alterations to be made in the internal structures as well as the battery.

According to reliable Apple analyst Ming Chi Kuo, the 12-inch model is a combination of 11-inch portability and 13-inch model's performance. Some of the key features of the upcoming MacBook Air are: 12-inch monitor with 2K screen resolution; 1.35kg; 128GB or 256GB SSD; 1.4GHz Intel Core i5; 4GB RAM; 2x USB 3.0; Mini DisplayPort / Thunderbolt 2.0; Memory card reader; 720p FaceTime camera.

On the other hand, Apple slipped the updated 13-inch MacBook Air last month. The revamped models feature a slight bump on its processor from 1.3GHz to 1.4GHz. Moreover, the model boasts a battery capacity of up to 12 hours.
