The adventure video game "Yooka Laylee" comes to Nintendo Switch on Dec. 14. The game was originally planned for the wii U but it was transfered to the Nintendo Switch due to problems with the Unity Engine.

According to Games Industry, the team behind the game could not get the Unity Engine to work properly on the Wii U. After struggling with it, the team decided to scrap the project and opted to launch the "Yooka Laylee" on the Nintendo Switch instead.

However, they were met with the same problems. According to Gavin Price, the studio head of Playtonic, it was difficult because they were working with new consoles and new engines. They ran into obstacles, but despite the setbacks, they were thankful for the help that they received from Nintendo and Unity.

Nintendo and Unity were an important part of the game's development and helped Playtonic optimise "Yooka Laylee" for its Nintendo Switch release. Because of the help they received from Nintendo and Unity, the Switch version of the platforming adventure game will probably be the most optimised version of "Yooka Laylee."

"Yooka Laylee" was originally released PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in April. A handful of platforming game fans flocked to the adorable and colorful game, but despite the praise, some people found the game problematic and it was met with mixed reviews.

Price went on to share that because of the break between the first release and the Nintendo Switch's upcoming release in December, the team manaed to find time to fix the problems pointed out by critics. Aside from that, they added switch-exclusive updates for future switch players as well.

The Switch version of "Yooka Laylee" will come with new music, a new camera mode, the ability to skip cut scenes and text, and more. They also tweaked the game's controls to make it more user-friendly.
