'X-Men: Apocalypse' movie news: Wolverine to be included

Hugh Jackman as Wolverine 20th Century Fox

Actor Hugh Jackman has been in every "X-Men" movie to date and it now appears certain that he will be in the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse" in some manner, based on an Instagram photo revealing that the actor will be joining the film's production in Montreal, Canada.

According to a report from Heroic Hollywood, custom leather goods manufacturer Kika NY was tasked with designing a special duffle bag for Hugh Jackman and that it will be used for his time in Montreal.

"We were just asked to make a special duffle backpack for Hugh Jackman who is filming the new X MEN movie in Montreal. We started sketching - The bag will be ready next week- we will keep you posted!" reads the post.

As pointed out in a report from Cinema Blend, it is unverified at this point what the extent of Jackman's role will be in the film. It is possible that he will have a substantial role such as in "X-Men: Days of Future Past" or a fleeting cameo as seen in "X-Men: First Class."

Jackman confirmed earlier this year via a post on Instagram that he is retiring as Wolverine and that "Wolverine 3" would be his last time playing the character. This new report confirms that he is open to playing the character in small doses before "Wolverine 3" is done.

It is not clear, however, if Wolverine will also appear in the "Deadpool" and "Gambit" films, although actor Ryan Reynolds posted via Twitter that he is very open to seeing Wolverine in "Deadpool" if their schedules could somehow make it work. Channing Tatum also confirmed via Reddit that he would not be a part of "X-Men: Apocalypse" but it is possible that Wolverine may have a small cameo role in "Gambit."

"X-Men: Apocalypse" opens in theaters on May 27, 2016.
