The long running American science fiction horror drama television series titled "X-Files" will be airing new episodes on Fox. According to Collider, the latest report concerning the TV series states that the American broadcasting company is very close to giving the green light to the revival of the iconic science fiction series, which had aired from 1993 to 2002. According to the information present on the webiste, the first season will consist of fewer episodes, which are expected to be less than 10.

Collider also noted a statement from one of the primary protagonists of the show, David Duchovny, who had earlier stated in January:

"I'm assuming that it will happen sooner rather than later now. We'll see what form, how many (episodes). Certainly I can't nor would I be interested in doing a full season. It will be in some kind of limited form. We're all old, we don't have the energy for a full season."

TV Wise reports that the newest episodes were always on the cards, because Fox had finally confirmed to reporters at the recent Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour that the company was currently engaged in talks for rebooting the series.

Previous attempts were made in order to revive the franchise. This was done by continuing the series with film releases but unfortunately, the plan backfired, forcing the American commercial broadcast television network Fox to resume the talks of making a return of the series.

Currently, there is no word on when the pilot episode of X-Files will be airing but since Fox has not given any negative statement concerning the status of the show, fans will be gearing up to witness the resurrection of one of the greatest thrillers to air in the 90's.
