X Factor contestants The Brooks attribute musical talents to growing up in church

Identical twins Kyle and Josh Brooks are just two of the hopefuls queuing up for their chance of pop stardom on this year's X Factor.

The 15-year-olds fought off the nerves to perform their own version of Westlife's Us Against the World in front of judges Simon Cowell, Mel B, Louis Walsh and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.

And it certainly went down well with a 'yes' from all four judges, sending them through to the next round.

Cheryl told the duo: "You're so cute together.  It's unbelievable.  A definite yes."

They travelled all the way from Penarth to audition at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium, accompanied by nan Collette and their 9-year-old brother, Liam.

Josh admitted it was a "nerve-wracking" experience singing in front of Simon Cowell, although it's not their first time performing for others.

The Mirror reports the brothers started out singing at a young age in their local church and that they learnt to play the guitar and drums there.

"We've learnt a lot through church and have performed there a lot.  If it wasn't for church we wouldn't know how to do any of these things," said Josh.

While the brothers hope to go all the way in the competition, they're determined to enjoy the experience regardless of the outcome.

Josh continued: "We did X Factor because we wanted to give ourselves a platform.  Even if we didn't get far, it would act as a launchpad for ourselves.  We would love to get a lot out of it, obviously something like a record deal, but even if we don't get far we'll enjoy the experience."
