WWE SummerSlam 2016 predictions: John Cena predicted to pick up a victory over AJ Styles

John Cena vs AJ Styles WWE

WWE SummerSlam will take place this coming Aug. 21 and many of the key matches have already been confirmed, such as Brock Lesnar going up against Randy Orton and John Cena fighting AJ Styles. The latter, however, is rumored to end with Cena beating Styles and claiming the WWE World Heavyweight Championship belt.

According to Wrestling on Ice, there is a very big chance of Cena claiming the victory in this match. Neither Cena nor Styles has full claim to the belt and both have an equal chance of winning. There is even the off-shoot chance of Dean Ambrose stepping in to disrupt the match and turn it into a three-way free-for-all.

Despite all this, there is the fact that Cena is being touted to become the face of WWE Smackdown. The WWE brand is going to split, with WWE Smackdown becoming a different program with a different roster and production team than WWE RAW.

Forbes reports that Roman Reigns, who is currently facing suspension for violating the WWE drug policy, will become the face to represent WWE RAW but it is Cena who is reportedly going to represent WWE Smackdown. With this in mind there may be no chance that the WWE would allow Cena to lost to Styles in a match so close to the brand split.

By allowing Cena to take the victory would make him even more marketable than before and would give all the push needed to make him the defined representative of the Smackdown brand.

Letting Styles win would put more marketing power behind him and Cena would lose some of his steam. Of course fans point out that this may lead to a strong redemption story on WWE Smackdown when Cena attempts to redeem himself and gain vengeance against AJ Styles in a big Smackdown event.

WWE Summerslam takes place this Aug. 21.
