Onstage in San Francisco last Sept. 30, in front of representatives from large companies, Executive Vice President for Windows Terry Myerson introduced Windows 10 as its most comprehensive platform yet. Though the new OS is still in its early stage of development, Windows 10 will be the first operating system to be capable of running on a PC, a laptop, a smartphone, a tablet, a wearable, and basically every available gadget there is.
"Windows 10 unlocks new experiences for customers to work, play and connect. Windows 10 embodies what our customers (both consumers and enterprises) demand and what we will deliver," Myerson sums up in a blog post.
Following the consumers' not-so-warm welcome to Windows 8 after its release in 2012, largely because of the touchscreen command issues, the software development giant completely eliminates the problem by giving users a combination of the endeared Windows 7 convenience and the sleek and sharp Windows 8 interface in their latest development.
Corporate Vice President for Operating Systems Joe Belfiore himself promised that in a statement. "We want Windows 7 users to feel like they upgraded from a Prius to a Tesla, but they don't need to learn a new way to drive."
From scalable menus to keyboard and mouse-adaptive screens, Windows 10 will be made very customizable to give the user full control to keenly organize tasks and apps in a painless way while practicing unique visual taste.
Something noteworthy as well is the return of the Start Button that will display programs on live tiles not only on a PC but even on a smartphone. Windows 10 will also feature a unified app store. Microsoft boasts all that and the rest of the product's features in this four-minute video.
The date the operating system will officially hit the market is yet to be announced but a pre-release version of the latest software, called Windows 10 Technical Preview for PC, was launched by Microsoft on Monday, Oct. 6, and is now available for download to native Windows 7 users signed up for the Microsoft Insider program.
