The wife of kidnapped British aid worker Norman Kember made a desperate appeal to his captors to release him.

During her 30-second slot on Al Jazeera TV Sunday night, Pat Kember told the hostage takers of her husband Norman: "Throughout his life he bravely fought against all kinds of injustice.

"He went to Iraq to help the Iraqi people, to stop the spread of abuse and to make Iraq a safer place. Please release Norman."
