'Voltron: Legendary Defender' season 2 renewal: Season premieres later this year

Voltron: Legendary Defender DreamWorks Animation, Netflix

"Voltron: Legendary Defender" has received critical acclaim for being a successful reboot of the classic 1980s cartoon series. The first season did end on a sudden cliffhanger, however, but fortunately fans won't need to wait too long to see the resolution as Netflix has just officially confirmed season 2 is moving forward and will be released this year.

As stated in a report from IGN, the announcement was made during this year's San Diego Comic Con. Present during the panel were showrunners Joaquim Dos Santos and Lauren Montgomery and the show's head writer, Tim Hedrick. Unfortunately, the showrunners did not specify when season 2 will premiere or how many episodes it will have.

The news was later released to the wider public via the "Voltron" official Twitter account. Unfortunately, the announcement only repeated the news of the season 2 renewal but gave no indication when the series will premiere.

Season 1 premiered on June 10 and had a total of 13 episodes, although the first three were compiled in the first episode, rounding it down to 11 when streamed via Netflix. It is speculated that season 2 will have the same number of episodes and fans point out that season 2 could premiere by November, although there are no confirmations of this.

The first season made a few changes such as naming the leader of the Shiro instead of Sven, making it more faithful to the Japanese original instead of the North American version from 1984, and some of the pilots were given different lions to match their colors. The first season also ended with the team suddenly being separated.

A clip of the showrunners discussing season has also been uploaded via YouTube, courtesy of Blastr, in which Hendrick and Dos Santos reveal the direction they are going for with season 2. It is further hinted that season 2 will focus on the five Paladins, Princess Allura and Coran getting back together.

If you look at the Church of England’s communications all that it ever seems to highlight is the good works that Christians do to improve the temporal well-being of their neighbours. It is right to highlight these things, but they are not the primary reason for the Church’s existence.
