"Vikings" season 5 is set to return to the small screens with a more exciting storyline. The upcoming season will feature a bloody civil war between the brothers. Although the brothers avenged the death of their father, Ragnar (Travis Fimmel), things changed after Ivar (Alex Høgh Andersen) killed his brother Sigurd (David Lindström) in the finale of season 4.

In the upcoming season, the true motives of the brothers will be revealed. It could either be about protecting the legacy of Ragnar or they are merely trying to secure their own legacy. Fans will soon find out what Ivar, Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig), Ubbe (Jordan Patrick Smith), and Hvitserk (Marco Ilsø) will do in season 5.

Ivar will find great power and a huge number of allies. However, it is still unclear if they will stay loyal for a long time. Also, Ivar will get the support of his brother Hvitserk. As for Ubbe, he will find himself in a difficult situation. Of all the brothers, he is the most sensitive one and is like Ragnar in many ways. He will work alongside Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) but some issues will arise over time for him.

Lagertha, who is the current ruler of Kattegatt, will face some challenges. For one, many will question her reign because of her different approach in solving problems unlike her male predecessors. On the other hand, viewers will be able to follow the adventures of Bjorn as he travels to the Mediterranean. Bjorn will also head home to help Ubbe and Lagertha defeat Ivar and the Great Army.

Another interesting character is Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard) who left Kattegatt after the death of his best friend, Ragnar, his wife, and his daughter. He will be seen in Iceland, which he believes is the land of the gods. The new season will also feature the return of Rollo (Clive Standen), the Duke of Normandy.

"Vikings" season 5 will premieres on Wednesday, Nov. 29, at 9 p.m. EST on History.
