'Vikings' season 4 part 2 air date, plot spoilers: Lagertha and Aslaug will battle

Katheryn Winnick as Lagertha History HD

"Vikings" season 4 returns with its second half this fall, and while it will primarily focus on Ragnar (Travis Fimmel), it will also showcase a long-awaited battle between Queen Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland) and the shieldmaiden Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick). Lagertha won't be alone, however, as she will have Ragnar by her side and a new lover.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Lagertha will have a new female lover named Astrid, who will be portrayed by Josefin Asplund. The report continues to explain that Lagertha had received nothing but sorrow and betrayal from her previous male lovers and it would only make sense she would turn to a female for love and affection.

With Astrid to give her love and Ragnar as her loyal ally and still as a friend the two are speculated to go up against Aslaug, who has been slowly plotting her way to become even more powerful and worshipped than Ragnar.

The report also points out that in the official trailer released during Comic-Con Lagertha is shown talking directly to Aslaug, telling the latter that she has never forgotten the fact that Aslaug stole Ragnar, Kattegat and her happiness away and this is expected to be the spark of a war between the two.

According to Movie News Guide, it is even possible that Ragnar will be the one to kill her when he realizes she had been scheming to usurp him all along.

While the battle betwee Aslaug and Lagertha is likely to play a large role in the second half of season 4 it is also widely speculated that Ragnar may be killed. The trailer does showcase a clip where he is being carried away in a prison cart and his death may prompt his sons to join together and destroy King Aelle's (Ivan Kaye) kingdom.

No official release date for the second half of "Vikings" season 4 has been announced but it is premiering sometime this fall.
