'The Vampire Diaries' season 7 storyline: Bonnie and Damon not to be featured together?

The Vampire Diaries - Damon and Bonnie CW

"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 will be the first season without leading character Elena (Nina Dobrev) which has fans cheering for Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) to get together. However, in an exclusive interview with She Knows, Graham revealed that as far as she knows, the two won't be getting together.

"I mean, Ian Somerhalder and I have campaigned to work together in so many interviews, and we've just been shut down. So we'll see what the writers come up with. But as of right now, nothing's happened," the actress explained.

The report points out that the cast and crew have begun filming season 7 since July, which means they may already have a few episodes done at this point. If Bonnie and Damon have not gotten together at this point, then it is unlikely that they will for the rest of the season.

Also, Elena's departure may still have an impact on Damon, and it would be a bit too hasty to start pairing the latter with a new love interest, despite Damon and Bonnie getting a little intimate during season 6. Bonnie had a short romantic story arc with Kai (Christopher Wood), but he was killed off before the season ended.

In the interview, Graham also commented on her character's lack of a strong romantic interest in the show, saying, "Of course! Bonnie also hadn't had any action in, like... You know what I mean? So they could have had a carpenter enter the show and I would have been like, 'Put her with him! Put her with the carpenter, for god's sakes, put her with someone.'"

Despite the lack of any romantic partner and that Bonnie is not likely to be getting together with Damon just yet, Graham revealed that unlike previous seasons, her character will be interacting with the rest of the gang.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 premieres this Oct. 8.
