'Uncharted 4: A Thief's End' release date March 2016; special editions detailed

Uncharted 4: A Thief's Edition - Digital Deluxe Edition Naughty Dog

"Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" will be officially released on March 18, 2016, as posted by the official PlayStation Blog. The game was initially set for release in March this year but was later pushed back to allow developer Naughty Dog to continue improving the game. The title will be a PlayStation 4 exclusive.

On its own, the game will cost $60 and is currently available for pre-order on the PlayStation Store. However, for gamers looking for exclusive bonus content and collector's items, the game will be featured in three special editions: the Special Edition, the Libertalia Collector's Edition, and the Digital Deluxe Edition.

The Special Edition costs $80 and will give gamers the game disc, a steelbook case with a cover designed by Alexander Iaccarino, an art book made by Naughty Dog and Dark Horse Comics, the Naughty Dog and Pirate Sigil sticker sheet, and several Naughty Dog points which serve as in-game currency to unlock special content.

The Libertalia Collector's Edition will cost $120 in retail and will give all the contents of the Special Edition, along with a 12-inch collector's statue of protagonist Nathan Drake by Gentle Giant, three unique multiplayer outfits, two custom weapon skins, a Henry Avery Sigil ball cap, and Madagascar Sidekick outfits.

More intriguing, however, is the Digital Deluxe Edition which is only for those who purchase the game digitally. It costs $80 and gives a digital copy of the game, unlocks two multiplayer customization items, and comes with the Triple Pack bundle.

This Triple Pack unlocks two multiplayer packs that hold rare and legendary items, and will also unlock future access to the series' first single-player story DLC. The "Uncharted" franchise had only dabbled in multiplayer DLC thus far, and this will be the first game in the series to feature DLC that will continue the main campaign's story.

Gamestop, Amazon, and the PlayStation Store also offer their own exclusive bonuses for pre-orders.
