'Uncharted 4: A Thief's End' release date: Game to be out March 9, 2016 on Amazon Germany

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End Naughty Dog

According to a report from PlaystationLifeStyle, "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" was listed for a March 9, 2016 release date on Amazon Germany but the website later pulled this down and the game is now labeled with a TBA release.

However, the report also points out that a Reddit user named ChrisNolanEnthusiast who resides in Germany received an email from Amazon Germany that specifically stated that the game will be released on March 9. The user also took a screenshot of the email and posted it as proof of the supposed release date leak.

"Uncharted 4" was initially set for a late 2015 release until it was delayed to 2016. Sony president Andrew House specifically stated during the Game Developers Conference 2015, as reported by IGN, that the game will come out prior to April 2016, giving further credence to the March 9 release date.

The report points out, however, that the information was specifically for Amazon Germany. Amazon U.S. still lists the game for March 31 which is a placeholder until the official release date is announced by game developer Naughty Dog and publisher Sony Entertainment.

This was reiterated by ChrisNolanEnthusiast with his statement, "I live in Germany, so other release dates could be possible."

PlaystationLifeStyle points out that the only reason the listed release date could be real is because of how specific it is. Placeholder dates are often at the beginning or end of the month while others are on specific holidays such as Christmas.

According to a report from GameRant, it is possible that the game will be launched in Germany by March 9 next year but will be released on a different date in other regions. This would explain the placeholder date used in Amazon U.S., as no official North American release date has yet been announced.

The report cites that Naughty Dog is most likely going to announce the official North American release date during the PlayStation Experience event which will be held from Dec. 5 to 6 as it will give the company a 3-month window for marketing.
