The second season of HBO detective drama "True Detective" may surprise waiting fans with new characters, plots and settings.  Reports claim that the old cast will be wiped out and will be replaced with a fresh set of names, meaning that the whole roster will be revamped and none of the former actors will be coming back.

The new set of characters, it is believed, will tackle a whole new plot. According to reports, Colin Farrell and Taylor Kitsch will be playing the two leads, although the actors have not given any confirmation whether or not they will, indeed, take on the roles.

Actress Elisabeth Moss was also currently in talks to play the female lead in the series. Other actresses who were reported to be up for the job include Rachel McAdams and Michelle Forbes. Furthermore, Vince Vaughn is also in discussion with the production team in playing either the fourth leading role or the major villain next season.

Aside from the cast, the person behind the series' amazing original score, T Bone Burnett, will not be back to make the soundtrack for season 2. Rumors are a-buzz that he will be replaced by Nine-Inch Nails front man Trent Reznor or by classical composer Howard Leslie Shore who is noted for his film scores.

As for the location, it is said that series creator and writer Nic Pizzolatto is considering filming in a lesser known town in California, and that Los Angeles is already off the list. He said that he is looking for a certain "psychosphere ambiance" similar to what was featured in the first season.

HBO's head of programming recently revealed that the filming of the second season of "True Detective" is slated this month as the show is bound to be back in summer.
