'True Detective' season 2 spoilers: New characters, location set for secretive next season

The second season of HBO detective drama "True Detective" may surprise waiting fans with new characters, plots and settings. Reports claim that everything will be new or revamped next season.

Moreover, new directors will also work on the series. According to Screenrant, the series will follow true anthology formula steering away from the narrative that was used in the previous season.

Show runner Nic Pizzolatto confirmed to Buzzfeed that there is no plan to work with a single director. "We don't have any plans to work with one director again. It would be impossible to do this yearly as we need to be able to do post while we're still filming, like any other show. There's some great guys I've consulted, and we're all confident we can achieve the same consistency," he said.

For the location, Pizzolatto is mulling over a lesser-known town in California. He added that Los Angeles is already off the list. He said that he was looking for the certain "psychosphere ambiance" similar to what was featured in the first season.

Lastly, the second season will make way for a new set of characters who will be introduced next season and make up a whole new plot for the new season. According to reports, Colin Farrell and Taylor Kitsch will be playing the two leads, although the actors have not confirmed yet if they will take the roles or not. Actress Elisabeth Moss is also currently in talks to play the female lead in the series. On the other hand, Vince Vaughn is also in discussion with the production team about playing either the fourth leading role or the major villain next season.

HBO's head of programming recently revealed that filming of the second season of "True Detective" is slated for this month.
