Actor Colin Farrell made up for the lack of spoilers about the second season of "True Detective," and spilled some of the details of the production and location of the upcoming season of the series.

While the actor may have accidentally spilled the details of the new season in an interview, fans would certainly appreciate him confirming that he will take on the lead role in the critically-acclaimed TV series. He also said that the new season will have eight episodes, which will take around four to five months to shoot.

Farrell said that the filming will take place in Los Angeles, which is contrary to what showrunner Nic Pizzolatto reportedly said. According to previous reports, the executive producer of the show was thinking of filming in a less famous town in California. He added that Los Angeles was already off the lis, as he was said to have been looking for the certain "psychosphere ambiance" similar to what was featured in the first season. Moreover, this is probably to avoid large groups crowding on filming sites.

According to the press release from HBO, the 38-year old actor will play the role of Ray Velcoro, a detective torn between his two masters – the police department and a mobster.

Aside from Farrell, Vince Vaughn has been confirmed to have bagged the other lead role. He will play Frank Semyon who is a criminal on the end of losing his career when he decided to go straight.  However, he is upset by the murder of a business partner.

Meanwhile, two more spots in the lead cast are still open. Rumors claim that Taylor Kitsch is close to bagging one of the spots. Also, a female actress will join the final lineup for the 2015 cast, to play the role of a "no nonsense" Californian sheriff named Ani Bezzerides who will have a dark past with gambling and alcoholism issues. Reports stated that top actresses Elisabeth Moss and Rachel McAdams are shortlisted for the role.

With no complete lineup of cast yet, the filming has reportedly been pushed back. The second season of "True Detective" is slated to be back in summer.
