'Transformers 5' movie plot rumors: Sequel to bring back the Dinobots

As previously reported, the writers' group working on the "Transformers" cinematic universe has announced that the members have the blueprints done for "Transformers 5" as well as a new animated film that will be handled by the writers behind Marvel's "Ant-Man." According to a report from Screen Rant, the former will also bring back the last film's Dinobots.

In "Transformers: Age of Extinction," the Dinobots were first seen as prisoners aboard Lockdown's ship. Optimus Prime later freed the four Dinobots. However, they did not instantly agree to help save Earth until Prime was able to defeat Grimlock in single combat. Grimlock, Strafe, Slag, and Scorn became part of the Autobot team.

According to Screen Rant, the Dinobots will return as they help Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg) fend off yet another threat against Earth. It is likely that there will be additional Dinobots introduced in the fifth film; only four were in the fourth film but the official toy line included three others: Slash, Slag and Snarl.

Unlike previous incarnations, the Dinobots in the films have not shown the ability to speak. But this may change in "Transformers 5." Grimlock, in particular, was the most vocal of the Dinobots in the G1 cartoons in the 1980s and was also a prominent, albeit minor, character in the 1986 animated film.

However, this will only be one-half of the story as it is heavily speculated that the rest of the film will not take place on Earth. The other half of the film will take place in space, focusing primarily on Optimus Prime as he seeks out the Quintessons. It is rumored that Prime will go up against the planet-devouring Transformer known as Unicron during his journey.

"Transformers 5" will begin production in June, although there are no confirmations at the time being about Michael Bay directing the film. Bay has announced via Twitter that he is still discussing the possibility of directing with executive producer Steven Spielberg.
