'Transformers 5' movie news: Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis may take on lead role

Director Michael Bay has left the "Transformers" movie franchise to move on to greener pastures. Fans of the movie are now questioning which director will rightfully take his place? And since the new movie will have a new director, the casting will most likely change as well.

According to unconfirmed reports, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" director Jonathan Liebesman is being eyed to take on the director's seat after Bay. According to the same reports, Liebesman is actually the first choice to replace Bay. Could this be the reason why he will no longer return for "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2?"

Bay spoke to Indiewire about what's in store for the director that will replace him. "There's a lot that's unexplored, but that's for the next director to figure out. They're hard movies to do and it takes everyday for two years. They're fun, but they're hard," Bay admitted.

As for Bay's greener pastures, he wants to take on something new. "There's kind of a new chapter, a new direction in movies I want to make. I have a lot of stories to tell. And it's about flexing new muscles," he spilled to USA Today.

With the change in director, there will also be a change in the casting as well. You can say goodbye to Mark Wahlberg, who actually had great critical reception for his role in the last movie. For "Transformers 5," Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Bruce Willis are being considered to replace Wahlberg, reports IBT.

There has been no casting details or announcement made yet, which led people to speculate that "Transformers 5" may not actually have any use for a human being at all. Rumor has it that the fifth movie will star all CGI characters only and it will be take place in Cybertron as Optimus Prime is on a mission to find his creator. Hence, only voice actors may be casted.

"Transformers 5" will hit theaters on June 24, 2016.
