'Tokyo Ghoul' rseason 3 to premiere sometime this year?

Fans who have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of "Tokyo Ghoul's" third season may finally get their wish, as the series is expected to make its way back on air this year.

The latest rumors suggest that even the president and CEO of Funimation Entertainment, Gen Fukunaga, believes that the series will return this year, Crossmap reported. Even though belief alone is not confirmation, it still has to be a good sign for "Tokyo Ghoul" that its distributor believes that progress will be made this year.

Funimation has also made it publicly known that they are currently targeting a 2016 release for the third season of "Tokyo Ghoul," although the company stopped short of actually giving an actual premiere date.

The question now, at least for some fans, is if it's even worth waiting around for the third season.

Not all fans are reportedly thrilled with how Studio Pierrot, the company responsible for the anime, has handled the storylines thus far.

According to The Inquisitr, given that there was already so much available source material for "Tokyo Ghoul" on hand during its most recent run on television, some fans openly wondered why the studio decided to diverge in so many different ways.

A storyline draft for "Tokyo Ghoul" Root A also reportedly made on its way to Reddit, and that too became a source of frustration for fans, mainly because they learned just how much Studio Pierrot changed things as they related to the show.

Fans are not universally pleased with the studio taking liberties with the source material, and some are genuinely fearful that the third season of "Tokyo Ghoul" might suffer because of the changes.

Some fans have suggested that a "Tokyo Ghoul" reboot would be better at this point.

While most fans may not be embracing the third season of "Tokyo Ghoul," it is still on track to release sometime this year, and there will most likely be a sizable audience on hand for the event.
