'Thor: Ragnarok' rumors: Film could feature Mark Ruffalo's Hulk

The Hulk as seen in Avengers: Age of Ultron Marvel Studios

The Hulk may not be appearing in "Captain America: Civil War" but according to a report from JoBlo, the green Avenger may be a part of "Thor: Ragnarok." According to the report's sources, the Hulk will be aiding Thor (Chris Hemsworth) in his battle against what amounts to the Norse tale of the end of the world.

The report also states that Hulk will be accompanying Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Lady Sif (Jaimie Alexander) on a "distant planet," which is neither Asgard nor Earth. The report points out that while this does not exactly mean "Thor: Ragnarok" will include the "Planet Hulk" story from the comic books but there is no denying of the possibility either.

Hulk was last seen in the "Avengers: Age of Ultron" where he decided to leave via Quinjet, ensuring that even S.H.I.E.L.D. could not follow him due to the plane's special cloaking technology. Where the Hulk may have been between "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and "Thor: Ragnarok" may be explored in the latter film.

JoBlo also points out that the Hulk's inclusion in the third "Thor" film makes sense given that the two characters have shown to develop a strong bond in the two "Avengers" films and for the fact that every Marvel film lately has become an ensemble film, particularly with "Captain America: Civil War" featuring multiple superheroes.

Not only that but the recently announced "Ant-Man and the Wasp" also implies that Marvel Studios is moving away from superhero films with just one main superhero starring in them.

There is also the problem of developing a solo "Hulk" film. Previous attempts have not performed well at the box office and back in 2013 "Avengers" director Joss Whedon explained that making a film focusing solely on the Hulk was no easy task because of the nature of the character.

With the Hulk added to "Thor: Ragnarok," the studio will be able to present an ensemble to the fans while also giving them more of the Hulk without the problems of producing a solo "Hulk" film.

Whether or not the Hulk does appear in "Thor: Ragnarok" will be seen when the film opens in theaters on Nov. 3, 2017.
