Fans of "The Witcher 3" have been eagerly waiting for the release of the game's downloadable content (DLC) expansion, "Blood and Wine," which is expected to arrive early this year. However, it appears that fans will need to wait longer, according to information picked up from the game's official Twitter account.

When a fan asked a question about "Blood and Wine," the Witcher Twitter account responded that details about the expansion will be released "in the coming months."

The expansion is expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2016, reports stated, although Gamepur mentioned that the initial release window was in January. But based on the Twitter announcement, the DLC expansion is unlikely to be released this month or even in March.

So far, what's known about "The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine" is that the expansion will offer 20 more hours of gameplay. Fans are also looking forward to the new expansion as it will feature the end of Geralt's journey.

The expansion will also be set in a new location that has significantly different visuals. The new area called Toussaint, is described to be a" land untainted by war, where an atmosphere of carefree indulgence and knightly ritual masks an ancient, bloody secret."

The screenshot below shows the new region, which is rich with vineyard that supports the land's wine production.

"Blood and Wine" will also bring new adventures, gear, and enemies. Yibada reported that new monsters like Manticores, Bruxas, and Stringas will be introduced.

More importantly, the expansion will feature new characters and those that were "dearly missed," as stated in developer's CD Projekt Red's press release.

At this point, details about "Blood and Wine" remain unclear. Although the expansion's release date has been delayed, the screenshots will serve as proof that the game quality will be worth the wait.
