"The Walking Dead" season 7 is not just going to focus on Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and his group, but it will also focus on Ezekiel (Khary Payton) and The Kingdom, the community he leads. Actor Logan Miller, who plays a soldier for The Kingdom, reveals a little bit more regarding the nature of this place.
"It has a crazy world to it that almost feel to me very 'Mad Max'-ish or like living in the realm of the 'Thunder Dome' or 'Evil Dead 3: Army of Darkness' situation," he told Comic Book. "Ezekiel is a fantastical character. Seeing him in it, kind of blowing the veil back and seeing what he's actually about, I think fans are really going to enjoy."
Miller's exact role is yet to be divulged, although it is that hinted he is playing an important soldier under Ezekiel's command. These soldiers have been shown in season 6, and they have encountered Morgan (Lennie James) while he was on the hunt for their missing companion, Carol (Melissa McBride).
Screen Rant points out that The Kingdom will indeed be introducing new elements, given how the world that is shown in "The Walking Dead" thus far still feels familiar. People still live in houses, streets are still familiar, and towns still resemble the way they appeared before zombies took over the world.
However, with The Kingdom, this is going to change, particularly if the show adapts what was shown in the original comic books. In the source material, Ezekiel and his followers have shaped their environment to suit their needs, mirroring the world seen in films like the "Mad Max" franchise.
Miller continued to tease that the stand-off involving Rick's (Andrew Lincoln) group, the survivors of Alexandria, The Hilltop Colony, The Kingdom, and Negan's Saviors will be an exciting, romp but he did not reveal how the conflict may resolve itself.
"The Walking Dead" season 7 premieres on Oct. 23 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
