"The Walking Dead" season 6 has continually been teasing the arrival of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and now actor Steven Yeun, who plays Glenn Rhee on the show, has spoken up regarding Negan's arrival and how the character will forever change the show.

"For me, his arrival is awesome," Yeun explained to Entertainment Weekly. "We've been waiting for this person for a long time, and in the comic books, he in a way brings a level of stakes that are kind of unmatched. And so, for me, for Negan to come into the show is, to say nothing less, [expletive] awesome."

This comes as a surprise given that Glenn dies in the comic books the moment Negan is introduced. In the original comic books, Negan carries a baseball bat wrapped in barbed-wire, which he refers to as Lucille. In issue 100, the same issue Negan is introduced, the villain bashes Glenn's face in with Lucille.

However, Yeun acknowledged that this may happen while also teasing that Glenn may not be the one at the receiving end of Negan's swing. Yeun addressed that the show does deviate from the comic books and that in regards to Negan's interaction with Glenn, some deviations may be made as well.

This has spurred rumors across the fans that Glenn may not be killed off, leading many to speculate that his wife Maggie (Lauren Cohan) will be the one that Negan kills instead. This change would be more devasting given that Maggie is also pregnant with Glenn's child and because the character is being built up as a potential community leader.

This all echoes the same sentiments given by "The Walking Dead" creator Robert Kirkman back in January, when he stated Negan's arrival is like an "atomic bomb" that will alter the show's tone and themes forever.

"The Walking Dead" season 6 finale will air on April 3.
