'The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD': Amiibo-unlocked dungeon to be featured

Wolf Link Amiibo Nintendo

The Wolf Link Amiibo is not just going to be used for Nintendo titles like "Super Mario Maker" as a report from Gematsu states that it will be used to unlock a brand-new dungeon in the upcoming "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD" for the Nintendo Wii U.

According to the report, the Amiibo's product details listed on Amazon France revealed that the Wolf Link Amiibo will be needed to unlock the new "Twilight Cave" dungeon. Other Amiibo may be used to regenerate Link's health, gain more arrows and other in-game bonuses. The product details have since been removed from Amazon France's page.

Game Rant reports that Nintendo may have to make the new dungeon unlockable through other means such as paid DLC in the Nintendo eShop given how difficult it is to buy certain Amiibo. Many times these Amiibo become out of stock the very same day they hit store shelves, which may make it impossible for gamers to unlock the "Twilight Cave."

However, it is also stated that Nintendo is very unlikely to address that and that the company may require players to simply hunt and buy the Wolf Link Amiibo in order to unlock the dungeon, no matter how rare the said Amiibo becomes.

The report continues to explain that Nintendo's reliance on Amiibo is understandable given how successful the figurines have become. While the Wii U has not sold spectacularly well, Nintendo has been able to financially recover thanks to the Amiibo craze and through sales of the 3DS and its variants such as the 2DS and New 3DS.

"The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD" is a Wii U re-release. The original game launched back in 2006 for the Gamecube and Nintendo Wii simultaneously. It was long rumored to be release on the New 3DS before Nintendo confirmed that the updated re-release would be on the Wii-U instead.

"The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD" will release in North America this March 4 and then in Japan by March 10.
