After Jude Foster experienced a great loss in season 3, actor Hayden Byerly admitted that his character will continue feeling the pain when "The Fosters" return for season 4.

During the Voice Awards in Hollywood, the actor told EnStarz that Jude is still deeply hurt due to the death of his friend Jack Downey (Tanner Buchanan) because of domestic violence in the hands of his foster father. Incidentally, Jack's killer was also Jude and Callie's (Maia Mitchell) former foster dad, Jim Pearson (Colby French).

According to Byerly, "Jude is affected by the death and we see that in the fourth season. You see how that kind of plays a toll on him and what happens and how that affects him."

Aside from Jack's death, the actor revealed that Jude's struggle with his sexuality will still be tackled in "The Fosters" season 4 since he found himself clinging to his spirituality to cope with the pain of losing a friend.

"He'll continue to struggle with his balance between being religious and gay, and he'll try to find who he is and he's still going to struggle accepting who he is and come to terms with that. So we'll see that in the beginning right out of the gate actually and probably throughout most of the season," the actor revealed.

Meanwhile, the trailer for the upcoming season shows that Jude's adoptive sister Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) will have to face a fatal repercussion of her infidelity to her boyfriend Nick (Louis Hunter).

The promo video reveals that Nick became furious after he saw Mariana kissing her ex-boyfriend Mat (Jordan Rodrigues). This led him to cause chaos in school by bringing a gun and endangering Mariana's life as well as her loved ones.

"The Fosters" season 4 premieres on June 20 on Freeform.
