Open-world horror game "The Forest" is coming to the PS4. The game was originally released on the PC platform on May 30, 2014. It is scheduled to make its console debut sometime in spring of 2018.

Developed by Endnight Games, "The Forest" follows the dire adventures of the protagonist – the sole survivor of an airplane crash. The protagonist wakes up in the broken-down airplane, only to find themselves stranded on an island filled with terrors. The official Steam synopsis reads:

"As the lone survivor of a passenger jet crash, you find yourself in a mysterious forest battling to stay alive against a society of cannibalistic mutants. Build, explore, and survive in this terrifying first person survival horror simulator."

Aside from dealing with flesh-hungry monsters, players must set up camp and provide for their basic needs. They need fire to stay warm, food to stay nourished, and shelter to stay rested. It is a survival simulation game and requires a mix of both strategy and courage to complete.

The game features base building and exploration, alongside survival. Players will need to defend their base from monsters during the evening while utilizing daytime for item gathering and crafting.

There are many different ways to complete "The Forest." Players can opt for a more direct approach and focus on gathering items to craft weapons. They can then choose to engage the enemy head-on in combat. Those who prefer a less direct plan, they can focus on building their base and evading enemies instead.

While "The Forest" is currently available on PC via Steam, the game is still in its early access. Players can choose to purchase it, but the developers are now working on adding new content such as more animals and fishes to hunt, more creatable items, and more areas to explore.

Endnight Games already released a brand new trailer for the PS4's upcoming version of the game.
