'The Flash' season 3 spoilers: Caitlin Snow's past to be explored

Danielle Panabaker as Killer Frost The CW

"The Flash" season 2 episode 19 just revealed several crucial details regarding Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) and her Earth-2 counterpart, Killer Frost. In an interview with Collider, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg revealed that this will play a crucial part when the show moves forward with season 3.

The episode revealed that while Killer Frost gained powers from the explosion of the particle accelerator and Caitlin Snow did not, they still have a lot in common, particularly the fact that they both had loved their respective Earth's version of Ronnie Raymond (Robbie Amell) and both had a mother that they did not grow close to.

However, Killer Frost also revealed that she had a brother. Caitlin explained she was never aware of her mother having another child and Kreisberg hinted that this would play a big story that would be developed in season 3.

"We haven't met Caitlin's mother yet. We got a little talk between the two women, which will probably play out in Season 3," he explained. Kreisberg hints that her mother will be a recurring character when the show returns for its third season.

Other than Caitlin discovering more about her family and the ramifications of Killer Frost's death, fans also speculate that Caitlin may finally gain her own powers if the show decides to allow Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) to push through with his plans of doing another particle accelerator explosion to grant Barry (Grant Gustin) his powers back.

However, just like Cisco (Carlos Valdes), it is likely that Caitlin will not notice she has gained these powers until a few more episodes in, making it a new storyline that will develop in season 3. This may allow Caitlin to develop into a good version of Earth-2's Killer Frost, using her powers to aid the Flash instead of trying to take him down.

"The Flash" season 2 will continue with episode 20 airing this May 3.
